Bill, I vividly remember us saying our goodbyes at the train station that day. I had just come from the eye clinic for a follow-up visit after my cataract surgery. As luck would have it, our paths crossed. You were carrying the biggest backpack I’ve ever seen! З Днем святого Валентина.

It was a big coincidence to run into each other. Do remember which Metro station it was? You were making plans to leave also, I think. Did you fly out of Kyiv in the next few days?

The Metro station for Vokzalna is called Vokzalna. I think we connected at the train station. I recall watching you board the train for Lviv with your big backpack. I left Kyiv from Boryspil on the 19th. Like you, I was getting calls from my family to leave. Also, the US State Department was calling me on a daily basis wanting to know if I was preparing to leave Ukraine. I figured that they knew more than I knew about russia's intentions.
