Give a thought to Ukraine this weekend, it is the weekend of Ukrainian Orthodox Easter. Russia has a record of ruining holidays with mass missile attacks, New Years Eve and Christmas, for example. It appears that they need a week or two between attacks to amass enough missiles and drones — typically 80 to 100 — for the next one. The last big attack was March 9. The previous attack was in mid-February. So, the timing is about right.
But, who knows, maybe they won’t. It could be they’ve calculated the expense (millions of dollars per salvo) against the results. Ukrainian air-defense knocks most of the weapons down. Past attacks temporarily knocked out parts of the power grid, but Ukraine learned how to deal with it. There are no longer daily blackouts, and losing heat is no longer such a serious threat. Most apartment buildings are on city heating systems, and it’s about time to turn them off for the summer, anyway.
Next weekend I will be attending the Ukraine Action Summit in Washington, DC. Participants will attend information and training sessions, then Monday and Tuesday we’ll lobby Congress-members. We’ll urge them to support Ukraine. Lobbying will be a new experience for me. It’s a bit daunting, but not as daunting as volunteering to fight. I regret I’m too old to do that, though it seems to me that it’s more fitting to send an old person who has lived a full life into battle than a young one who hasn’t. Instead of battle dress and a weapon, however, I’ll have to settle for a business suit and a list of talking points.

This is the most recent? Last year….hmm.
