One year ago this happened. I spent a week volunteering with a Polish aid-group helping refugees crossing the Ukrainian border into Poland. We did eight hour shifts handing coffee, tea, food, and other provisions to the busloads of people coming from all over Ukraine. I should say that though based on real occurrences, the events and people depicted here are fictionalized. There definitely was a hairless cat, though.
I’ve been working on this, what I call a “graphic novelette,” in my spare time between teaching English lessons, drawing weekly illustrations for Tribute Media, and dealing with life events such as depression and COVID, in four countries and something like twenty housing situations. I call it a “graphic novelette” because it’s not long enough to be a graphic novel, but the only alternatives seem to be “comic,” or “cartoon” which seem far less accurate.
There are more of these based on my experiences of the past few years. If I can find a publisher to pay me for them, I’ll be able to get them done faster.
